Silicon Valley, USA – December 2024 — Silicon Valley Today proudly unveiled the “2024 Global Top 100 Innovators in Science and Technology Award,” recognizing outstanding young leaders who have demonstrated excellence in science, technology, and social impact. This year, Zhixing (Jason) Chen, a distinguished high school scholar from Great Neck South High School in New York, has been named to the prestigious list for his groundbreaking innovations in digital health and social good.

Jason Chen’s most notable achievement is the development of a reminder app designed for Alzheimer’s patients, which provides intelligent daily prompts and memory support to assist patients and their families. Since its release, the app has been downloaded over 20,000 times and has received wide recognition as a pioneering example of “technology for good,” highlighting how innovation can be harnessed to improve the lives of vulnerable populations.

For this achievement, Jason Chen was honored with the UC Berkeley Innovation and Social Impact Achievement Award in 2024. His project, CareLink Tech for Good, was highly praised as “a model initiative bridging academia and society,” showcasing the potential of young innovators to transform scientific research into tangible social value.

Beyond his entrepreneurial projects, Jason Chen has also contributed significantly to academic research. He conducted an empirical study titled “Impact of the Ukraine Conflict on Food Security: A Comprehensive Analysis Using Propensity Score Matching and Difference-in-Difference,” applying advanced econometric techniques to analyze how the war disrupted global grain markets and affected vulnerable populations. His findings provided crucial quantitative evidence for international policy debates on conflict-driven food insecurity and humanitarian response.

Jason Chen is equally committed to public service and leadership. He founded and leads the Lightbeam Project under the International Commonweal Support Organization (ICSO), delivering mental health and educational support to over 200 underserved youth. In addition, he has contributed nearly 100 volunteer hours at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), where he supported translation, report writing, and advocacy, earning recognition for his outstanding performance.

“Being recognized by Silicon Valley Today is both an honor and an inspiration,” said Jason Chen. “I will continue to explore at the intersection of technological innovation and social responsibility, ensuring that more people can benefit from the positive power of science and technology.”

Since its inception, the Global Top 100 Innovators in Science and Technology Award has become one of the most influential recognitions for young innovators worldwide. Jason Chen’s inclusion on this year’s list not only underscores the extraordinary potential of the next generation in both scientific research and social innovation but also injects new vitality into the global innovation ecosystem.
