The New York Police Department has released two new images of a man they believe is responsible for the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare’s chief executive. One of the images shows the suspect in the back seat of a taxi on the day of the shooting.

The images were shared late on Saturday as investigators continued their frantic search for the killer of Brian Thompson, 50, who was gunned down outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel in Manhattan on Wednesday.https://wordpress.com/

In one image, captured from the front of the taxi, the suspect can be seen in the back seat, partially obscured by a blue surgical mask, a dark hat, and a black hood. The other image, taken through a window, shows him walking on the street with the same mask, a black puffer jacket, and a hood pulled over his head.

According to the police, the man took a taxi around 7 a.m. Wednesday from the Upper West Side, roughly 15 minutes after shooting Mr. Thompson. The cab traveled uptown to a bus terminal near the George Washington Bridge, where investigators believe the suspect may have boarded a bus out of New York.

The killing triggered a manhunt that extended well beyond New York City and captured national attention, but by Sunday, the suspect remained at large. Authorities were still seeking information about his identity and the motives behind the shooting of Mr. Thompson.

These new taxi images are the latest evidence to emerge as the police sift through thousands of hours of surveillance footage across the city, trying to track the suspect’s movements during what they believe were his 11 days in New York, beginning with his arrival on a bus from Atlanta on November 24. Police also found bullet casings at the crime scene with the words “depose,” “deny,” and “delay” inscribed on them, which may refer to tactics insurers use to avoid paying claims.

Additionally, officers recovered a backpack in Central Park on Friday, which they believe the suspect may have discarded after riding a bike away from the shooting scene toward the Upper West Side before catching the taxi. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the backpack belonged to the suspect or contained any significant items related to the investigation.
