SAN FRANCISCO, October 15, 2026 — FOG Design+Art has announced 76 exhibitors for its 2027 edition, expanding the San Francisco contemporary art and design fair by approximately 20 percent and introducing a redesigned layout to accommodate increased gallery participation and public programming. The fair will return to Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture from January 21 through January 24, with an opening preview gala scheduled for January 20.
The announcement establishes the 13th edition as the largest in the event’s history. Organizers said the expanded presentation will bring together 50 exhibitors in the main FOG Pavilion and 26 curated presentations in FOG FOCUS, its complementary exhibition section. The combined roster represents an increase of 13 exhibitors compared with the previous edition, reflecting stronger demand from galleries seeking access to collectors and audiences in Northern California.
The expansion comes amid broader efforts to strengthen San Francisco’s cultural identity and maintain the city’s position within the international art market. FOG has become a central event during San Francisco Art Week, attracting galleries, collectors, curators, designers, and museum supporters to the waterfront venue.
Expanded Exhibitor Roster Brings International Galleries to San Francisco
The 2027 exhibitor list includes prominent galleries with operations across major international art centers. Returning participants include David Zwirner, Hauser & Wirth, Lisson Gallery, Marian Goodman Gallery, Mendes Wood DM, and Lehmann Maupin. Their involvement reflects FOG’s continued appeal to established dealers operating within the global contemporary art market.
Other participating exhibitors include Gladstone, Perrotin, Sprüth Magers, White Cube, Galerie Chantal Crousel, Tina Kim Gallery, Taka Ishii Gallery, and kurimanzutto. The roster also features galleries with ties to the Bay Area, including Berggruen Gallery, Fraenkel Gallery, Gallery Wendi Norris, Hosfelt Gallery, Jessica Silverman, and Anthony Meier.
Organizers identified 15 first-time participating galleries, including ATLA, DEN, Dominique Porter Gallery, Fair Warning, Hoffman Donahue, GALERIE 1900-2000, LAMB, Mariposa, Matthew Brown, Moderne Gallery, Parker Gallery, P.P.O.W, Taka Ishii Gallery, Thomas Dane Gallery, and VeneKlasen. The combination of returning exhibitors and newcomers is intended to broaden the range of artists, artistic practices, and gallery perspectives represented at the event.
The exhibitor selection also reinforces the international character of the fair. Participating galleries maintain operations in cities including New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Mexico City, Tokyo, Seoul, Brussels, Berlin, São Paulo, and Hong Kong. For San Francisco audiences, that reach creates opportunities to encounter artistic presentations connected to markets and communities beyond California.
FOG FOCUS Expands to a Second Floor
One of the most significant changes for 2027 concerns FOG FOCUS, which will expand onto the second floor of its dedicated venue for the first time. The section will include 26 curated presentations featuring galleries and artists at different stages of their careers, broadening a program previously associated primarily with emerging galleries.
The expanded FOCUS area will also include several nonprofit galleries supported through Bloomberg sponsorship, according to the organizers. By incorporating nonprofit participants alongside commercial dealers, the fair is creating additional space for artistic approaches that may not fit conventional gallery sales models.

The redesigned venue will feature a visitor lounge and a full-service dining experience operated by San Francisco restaurant A16. These additions are intended to make the expanded event easier to navigate while encouraging visitors to spend more time exploring the presentations.
FOG Director Sydney Blumenkranz said in the October 15 announcement that the expansion followed a record number of applications. The decision to extend FOG FOCUS reflects the demand from exhibitors and the organizers’ effort to create room for a broader selection of galleries.
FOG Talks Moves to Cowell Theater
The fair is also relocating its FOG Talks program to the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason. The theater offers approximately 437 seats, substantially increasing the capacity available for public conversations compared with the fair’s previous presentation arrangement.
The series, presented by Bank of America and organized by steering committee member Susan Swig, brings together speakers working across contemporary art, architecture, technology, and design. The program has attracted strong attendance in previous years, with organizers reporting standing-room-only conversations.
Moving the talks into Cowell Theater is expected to improve audience access and create a more suitable environment for larger discussions. The theater’s position within the FOG FOCUS area could also increase visitor traffic through that section, giving participating galleries additional exposure.
The full schedule of FOG Talks speakers and individual sessions had not been released as of the October 15 announcement. Additional programming details are expected before the January event.
Preview Gala Strengthens Partnership With SFMOMA
The 2027 fair will open with its traditional preview gala on Wednesday, January 20, benefiting the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The event offers supporters early access to the fair’s gallery presentations while raising money for the museum’s educational activities.
Kaitlyn and Mike Krieger, along with Jennifer and Joe Montana, have been named honorary chairs of the 2027 gala. Mike Krieger is known as a co-founder of Instagram, while Joe Montana is a former San Francisco 49ers quarterback. Their participation brings together individuals associated with the Bay Area’s technology, design, sports, and philanthropic communities.
According to SFMOMA, proceeds from the preview gala support educational initiatives that serve more than 100,000 students, teachers, young people, and families annually through museum visits, learning resources, and public programs.

The relationship underscores FOG’s role beyond commercial transactions. Although gallery exhibitions remain central to the fair, its connection with SFMOMA helps direct private cultural patronage toward public arts education.
Expansion Coincides With San Francisco Art Week
FOG’s growth comes as San Francisco Art Week continues to establish a broader calendar of exhibitions and cultural activities. The 2027 edition of the citywide celebration is scheduled for January 16–24, encompassing museum exhibitions, gallery events, artist programs, and other cultural gatherings across the Bay Area.
The concentration of events gives visiting collectors and arts professionals opportunities to engage with institutions and galleries beyond the fair itself. For participating dealers, it also creates a larger cultural setting for exhibitions, professional meetings, and relationships with local collectors.
The expansion does not, by itself, establish that the region’s broader art market has recovered from recent challenges. Gallery participation, fair attendance, and art sales measure different aspects of market activity. Nevertheless, the increase in exhibitors and the investment in venue capacity indicate that organizers and participating dealers see sufficient demand to support a larger event.
That distinction is important for evaluating FOG’s influence. A larger exhibitor roster may increase artistic variety and visibility, but the event’s commercial results will depend on collector engagement, individual presentations, and market conditions when the fair opens in January.
Visitor Information and Next Steps
The 2027 FOG Design+Art fair will take place at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, Piers 2 and 3, at 1 Marina Boulevard in San Francisco. Public hours are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, January 21–23, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 24.
Single-day admission will cost $40 in advance or $45 after January 20. Four-day passes are priced at $115 in advance and $120 after January 20. Discounted admission will be available for seniors and students, while children age 12 and younger may attend free. Organizers said general-admission tickets would become available online beginning in mid-November.
With its expanded international roster, increased space for FOG FOCUS, and larger public discussion venue, the 2027 edition represents a substantial investment in the fair’s future. The January event will provide a clearer indication of whether stronger exhibitor interest translates into greater attendance, collector participation, and sustained momentum for San Francisco’s arts community.
