YouTube Premium will add Peacock Premium for eligible U.S. subscribers in early 2027, bringing NBCUniversal’s live sports, television series and movie catalog directly into the YouTube experience under a broad multiyear partnership announced by the companies.
The agreement gives YouTube Premium members access to Peacock’s ad-supported tier as part of their membership rather than requiring them to purchase Peacock separately. NBCUniversal currently charges $10.99 a month for Peacock Premium as a standalone service, while the standard individual YouTube Premium plan costs $15.99 a month in the United States.
For sports viewers, the most significant addition is Peacock’s extensive portfolio of live rights. NBCUniversal said the service available through YouTube will feature the NFL, NBA, WNBA, Olympics, MLB, Big Ten and Notre Dame football, Big 12, Big East and Big Ten basketball, Premier League soccer, the Kentucky Derby, golf and other competitions.
The bundle will therefore place major NBC Sports properties inside a platform already used heavily for highlights, commentary, podcasts and creator-led sports coverage. A fan could move from a league highlight or analysis video to an eligible live Peacock event without leaving YouTube’s broader viewing environment.
YouTube’s official announcement highlighted Sunday Night Football and NBA coverage as central attractions. NBCUniversal regained national NBA rights under the league’s current media agreements, making Peacock an increasingly important destination for professional basketball. The service also carries selected WNBA games and a wide range of college events, giving the bundle relevance beyond the NFL calendar.
The Peacock programming will not be fully ad-free. YouTube Premium removes advertising from ordinary YouTube videos and includes benefits such as background play, downloads and YouTube Music, but the Peacock Premium tier included in the bundle contains commercials. That means members may continue to see advertising during Peacock series, movies and sporting events.
This distinction is particularly important for live sports, where commercial inventory is built into broadcasts and represents a major source of revenue for networks and leagues. The arrangement allows NBCUniversal to broaden Peacock distribution while continuing to monetize viewing through advertising, even when a subscriber is accessing the service through a YouTube membership.

YouTube and NBCUniversal have not yet disclosed detailed eligibility requirements. Their announcements refer to eligible U.S. YouTube Premium subscribers and say more information, including an official launch date, will be provided before the rollout. It remains unclear how the benefit will apply to family memberships, annual plans, promotional accounts or YouTube Premium Lite.
The companies described the agreement as Peacock’s largest wholesale distribution partnership to date. Peacock will be available seamlessly within the YouTube experience, rather than merely appearing as a link that sends viewers to a separate application. NBCUniversal said the structure is designed to make its sports and entertainment programming easier to discover and watch.
The partnership extends well beyond the consumer bundle. NBCUniversal renewed its multiyear distribution agreement with YouTube TV, preserving carriage of the company’s broadcast and cable networks. That portfolio includes NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, USA Network and other channels carrying sports, entertainment and news.
The extension reduces the risk of a future interruption for YouTube TV customers after the companies experienced tense carriage negotiations in 2025. NBCUniversal had sought broader distribution for Peacock, while YouTube resisted incorporating the streaming service into its more expensive live television product. Placing Peacock inside YouTube Premium provides a different route that strengthens the subscription without directly adding it to YouTube TV.
NBC Sports will also become a production partner for selected premier live events on YouTube. In addition, a selection of NBCUniversal sporting events will stream through the NBC Sports YouTube channel, potentially reaching viewers who do not subscribe to either YouTube Premium or Peacock.
The companies did not identify which events will be made available through that channel or whether they will be full games, alternate presentations or special productions. The commitment nevertheless reflects YouTube’s growing interest in professionally produced live sports, an area in which it already has a significant presence through NFL Sunday Ticket and creator-driven programming.

Universal films and NBCUniversal television franchises will broaden the package beyond sports. The companies cited blockbuster and award-winning movies alongside series including “Saturday Night Live,” “Love Island USA,” “The Real Housewives,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “The Traitors,” “The Office” and other Peacock titles.
That combination gives YouTube Premium a more conventional streaming catalog while retaining its established creator-video and music benefits. It also places YouTube more directly in competition with bundles assembled by Amazon, Disney, Apple, telecommunications companies and cable providers.
Peacock Premium will remain available independently. NBCUniversal said the $10.99 monthly tier will also launch as a separate subscription through YouTube Primetime Channels later in summer 2026. Peacock Premium Plus, a higher-priced option with fewer advertisements and additional features, has already been offered through Primetime Channels since late June.
Internationally, NBCUniversal plans to distribute Universal+ and reality-focused service Hayu through YouTube Premium in selected markets. Peacock itself remains focused on the United States, making the domestic sports package the most consequential part of the agreement for American subscribers.
The broader strategy is designed to address one of streaming’s persistent problems: consumers must navigate multiple applications, subscriptions and billing relationships to follow teams and leagues. Incorporating Peacock into YouTube does not eliminate sports fragmentation, but it combines several major rights packages with a service millions of viewers already use every day.
For NBCUniversal, the arrangement offers wider distribution without abandoning Peacock’s brand, programming strategy or advertising model. For YouTube, it adds live games and premium studio content that cannot be replicated by its creator ecosystem alone. The result is a bundle that moves YouTube closer to becoming a central gateway for U.S. sports viewing when it launches in 2027.
