Former Ravens kicker Justin Tucker suspended 10 games for violating NFL’s conduct policy

The National Football League has officially suspended former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker for the first ten games of the 2025 regular season. The disciplinary action was announced on Thursday and stems from a breach of the league’s personal conduct policy.
Tucker, once considered among the most reliable kickers in the NFL, had his contract terminated by the Ravens earlier this year following a wave of allegations involving sexually inappropriate conduct. The accusations came from numerous massage therapists in the Baltimore area, ultimately prompting the NFL to launch a formal investigation into his behavior.
According to reports published by The Baltimore Banner back in January, a total of 16 women working at eight different spas in the region have accused Tucker of misconduct. The alleged incidents span more than a decade, with some dating as far back as 2012. The accounts shared by the therapists describe uncomfortable and inappropriate experiences during professional massage sessions, prompting both legal attention and public scrutiny.
After months of investigation, the NFL concluded that there was sufficient evidence to impose disciplinary action. Tucker will now be barred from participating in regular season games until November 11, the date he becomes eligible for reinstatement.

Attorney Michael Belsky, who represents several of the women who made accusations against Tucker, released a statement following the NFL’s decision. He expressed gratitude for the league’s findings and criticized Tucker for how he handled the allegations.
“The NFL’s findings validate the experiences shared by each of the victims,” Belsky said. “It would have been a straightforward matter for Mr. Tucker to offer an apology early on. However, rather than taking responsibility or expressing remorse, he instead attempted to undermine the victims’ credibility. This not only caused further distress but also reinforced the trauma they endured. Such behavior is not only disappointing but should be considered unacceptable.”
Despite the suspension and mounting public criticism, Tucker has consistently denied any wrongdoing. In previous public statements, he has described the allegations as “unequivocally false” and maintained his innocence.
Following the NFL’s announcement, Tucker’s agent, Rob Roche, also issued a statement to The Athletic, expressing discontent with the league’s ruling.
“We are deeply disappointed by the NFL’s decision,” Roche stated. “Justin has always made a conscious effort to represent his family, his team, and his community in the most positive light. He stands by his earlier denials and maintains that he has not engaged in the behavior described.”

While maintaining his client’s innocence, Roche also revealed that he had advised Tucker to accept the terms of the suspension in order to move forward and resume his football career as soon as possible.
“I told Justin that the best course of action would be to accept the suspension,” Roche added. “The goal is to put this painful chapter behind him and focus on returning to the field once he is eligible.”
In a move that now appears increasingly connected to the allegations and their potential impact, the Ravens selected kicker Tyler Loop in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Shortly after, on May 5, the team officially released Tucker. At the time, the franchise described the decision as being based on “football reasons,” though the timing strongly suggests that the off-field controversy played a role.
Head coach John Harbaugh addressed the media shortly after Tucker’s release, acknowledging that the decision was not a simple one. He emphasized that multiple factors were considered in the process and avoided attributing the release to any single cause.
“It wasn’t a straightforward decision,” Harbaugh explained. “If it were as simple as a clear-cut choice, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. There were many elements that factored into it—football considerations, yes, but other elements as well. We needed to make sure we had a dependable kicker ready to play, and it was clear we had to move forward.”
Tucker’s release came after a notably difficult season in 2024. Once a consistently elite performer on the field, the five-time All-Pro had his worst statistical year, missing eight field goal attempts—an unusually high number for someone with his track record.
As of now, Tucker is not signed to any NFL team and remains a free agent. However, league rules permit him to take part in offseason activities if he signs with a new team before the regular season begins. That means he would be eligible to attend team minicamps, training camps, and even participate in preseason games, though he will be barred from competing in official regular season matchups until the suspension is lifted.
The case has sparked broader conversations about accountability in professional sports and the standards to which athletes are held. While some argue that the NFL’s response is appropriate and necessary to uphold integrity, others, particularly Tucker’s supporters, remain skeptical of the process and continue to call for more transparency.
Regardless of where public opinion stands, the consequences for Tucker are significant. From being a franchise icon and the most accurate kicker in NFL history for many years, his career now hangs in the balance. Whether he will be signed by another team and given a second chance remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, the 16 women who came forward continue to navigate the emotional aftermath of coming forward publicly. Advocates for victims of sexual misconduct have praised their courage, emphasizing the difficulty of speaking out against a public figure, especially in a male-dominated industry like professional football.
The NFL, for its part, has reiterated its commitment to enforcing its personal conduct policy consistently. In recent years, the league has faced criticism for inconsistent disciplinary measures, but officials have maintained that they are working to improve their investigative processes and decision-making protocols.
As the 2025 NFL season approaches, all eyes will be on Tucker’s next steps—whether he remains unsigned or finds a new opportunity to revive his once-remarkable career. What’s certain is that this chapter marks a turning point, not only for Tucker but for the league’s ongoing reckoning with player conduct off the field.ugh said. “But I think anybody can look at the whole thing in perspective and say, ‘OK, we’ve got to have a kicker ready to go,’ and there’s a whole lot of moving parts of that deal.”
Tucker is currently a free agent, but if he is signed by a team in the offseason, he will be able to participate in minicamp and preseason games.
