The homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were burglarized last month, the team confirmed on Wednesday.
According to a police report from the Cass County (Mo.) Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a burglary call shortly after midnight on October 6 at Mahomes’ estate in Belton, Missouri. Though Mahomes is not explicitly named in the report, the address listed corresponds with public records for the three-time Super Bowl MVP quarterback.
The report notes that there was no sign of forced entry, classifying the crime as first-degree burglary. A spokesperson for the Cass County Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation is still underway.
Speaking about the incident on Wednesday, Mahomes expressed his frustration and disappointment. “It’s something you don’t want to happen to anyone, but especially to yourself,” he told reporters. “I can’t go into too many details because the investigation is still ongoing.”
The day after the burglary at Mahomes’ residence, another break-in was reported around 7:30 p.m. on October 7 at a home in Leawood, Kansas, which is believed to belong to Kelce, according to a police report from the Leawood Police Department. The Chiefs had just defeated the New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium in a “Monday Night Football” game that evening, with pop star Taylor Swift, Kelce’s girlfriend, in attendance.
The Leawood Police report stated that $20,000 in cash was stolen, and there was $1,000 worth of damage to a rear door.
A spokesperson for the Leawood Police Department declined to offer further details, stating that victim information is not typically released except in cases of fatalities, accidents, or homicides.
TMZ was the first to report the burglaries at the homes of Mahomes and Kelce.
